(2.2) 'CHANGES' - Ed meets the new principal and decides he must affect a 'cooler' persona. Molly is attracted to a bowling supply salesman (Pat Finn), who seems to share the feeling.  Just as Mike is at the end of his tether, Dr.Jerome completely surprises him. Ed and Carol are suspicious of a new client who comes to Ed to legally change his name. Phil decides that he must resort to magic to meet women. Original Air Date: October 17, 2001.

(2.3) 'A JOB WELL DONE' - Although against his principles, Ed must defend a sleazy businessman (David Garrison), which irks Molly. Carol resents Principal Martino's assessment that she needs to change her stale teaching curriculum. Mike, not wanting to be an 'old' father, thinks about having a second child. Phil 'attempts' to locate a hard-throwing bowler's missing ball. Original Air Date: October 24, 2001.
(2.5) 'CLOSURE' - While defending a Brazilian woman (Patricia Velasquez) in a divorce case, Ed decides that he must meet with his ex-wife Liz (Melissa Errico). Everyone is a suspect when the results of a Stuckeybowl contest seem more than a coincidence. Dr.Jerome expects Mike to undertake an extremely difficult task. The relationship between Molly and Jim continues with its ups and downs. Original Air Date: November 7, 2001.
(2.7) 'THE NEW WORLD' - Dennis Martino requires Ed's legal expertise after a minor traffic accident, but prefers to settle out-of-court, leaving Ed to deal with an unusual lawyer (Chris Elliott) who insists on an exorbitant amount. Meanwhile, feeling blue over the growing relationship between Dennis & Carol, Ed decides to renew the town's Thanksgiving Parade. Nancy, wanting to sell her delicious cookies at the Farmer's Market, runs into territorial competition. Original Air Date: November 21, 2001.
(2.8) 'GOODBYE SADIE' - Ed defends a teacher fired after being accused of being racist, but it may the teacher who is actually being discriminated against. Molly resists the urgings of her new boyfriend (Pat Finn) to sell her old and rusting car and buy a new one. Warren's friend Diane (Ginnifer Goodwin) enlists the help of her publicist cousin to give him a new cool image. Original Air Date: December 3 & 5, 2001.
(2.9) 'CHARITY CASES' - After the town philanthropist (Barrie Ingham) gives away more money than he can afford, and depletes his foundation fund, Ed decides to hold a charity Christmas party to replenish it. Dennis and Carol exchange early presents. Meanwhile, Mike & Nancy attempt to provide their growing daughter with more culture. Original Air Date: December 12, 2001.

(2.11) 'TWO DAYS OF FREEDOM' - Ed is asked by a woman (Andrea Martin) to keep tabs of her husband (Vincent Pastore), who she has allowed 48 hours of freedom to celebrate his 50th birthday. Warren is extremely excited when Jessica (Robin Paul) agrees to go out on a date with him. Ed is unhappy after finding out that Carol has been secretive about her relationship with Dennis (John Slattery). Phil and Kenny attempt to come up with a strictly Stuckeyvilleian food creation. Original Air Date: January 16, 2002.
(2.12) 'ENDS AND MEANS' - Ed is attracted to a woman (Reiko Aylesworth) who has lost her job due to embezzlement suspicions. She later admits her guilt, but that it was not for personal gain. Nancy, wanting to get out of the house, accepts a substitute teaching job at Stuckeyville High, but it soon becomes apparent that her talents lie elsewhere. Also, Ed is skeptical of Phil's idea of hosting Celebrity Roast Birthday parties for children. Original Air Date: January 30, 2002.
(2.14) 'THINGS TO DO TODAY' - Ed meets an interesting and intriguing woman (Kelly Ripa) with an appealing zest for life. Meanwhile Carol worries when Warren and his friends capture a private moment on film. Ed discovers a secret about Jim (Pat Finn) that could have a tremendous impact on his relationship with Molly. (2.15) 'NICE GUYS FINISH LAST' - When large noisy trucks begin rumbling through Stuckeyville to save on toll charges, Ed decides to assist the meek lawyer (Jason Kravitz) assigned to have them disallowed on the town streets. Meanwhile Carol regrets asking Dennis (John Slattery) to read her short story before showing it to a visiting notable author (Keir Dullea). Molly refuses to speak with her persistent ex-boyfriend Jim (Pat Finn). Original Air Date: March 6, 2002.
(2.17) 'LLOYD' - Ed is visited by his older brother (Timothy Busfield), who has visions of turning Stuckeybowl into a bowling nightclub. Nancy hosts a get-together for an internet fan club and meets a young teen admirer (Aaron Hamill). Meanwhile Warren attempts to get into a college fraternity party to meet women and becomes the object of an attractive co-ed's interest (Elizabeth Hobgood), much to his surprise. Original Air Date: April 3, 2002.
(2.18) 'TRUST' - Mike is sued by his new nurse for sexual harrassment after he makes a few offhanded remarks about her appearance and perfume choice. Ed feels comfortable about representing his best friend, until some potentially incriminating evidence is revealed. Carol decides to hone her writing skills by covering some stories for the local town newspaper. Meanwhile Phil wants to unionize Stuckeybowl employees after Ed curbs his taking home of excessive amounts of the cafeteria food. Original Air Date: April 10, 2002.
(2.19) 'THE SHOT' - Ed feels the need to recreate his missed foul shot from the high school state championship game, by rounding up the original players, fans, and referee (Paul Shaffer) with hopes of a better result. After Molly and Jim (Pat Finn) share an intimate moment, she gives him an ultimatum. Meanwhile, Phil and Kenny attempt to assist Shirley in attracting the attention of the food delivery person (Reg Flowers). Original Air Date: April 24, 2002.
(2.20) 'POWER OF THE PERSON' - Ed, after being asked by Carol,  excitedly agrees to coach the Stuckeyville High School quiz bowl team, including a student (James Ransone) who lacks confidence in himself. Meanwhile Phil schemes to become the next Don King by recruiting and promoting a pair of 'boxers'  for a big fight at Stuckeybowl. In a search for faith and religion, Warren visits a number of the town's clergy, each representing a different denomination. Original Air Date: May 1, 2002.
(2.22) 'LAST CHANCE' - Ed is torn between action and inaction while dealing with the possibility that Dennis may soon propose to Carol. Warren attempts to shut out Mark (Michael R. Genadry) and Diane (Ginnifer Goodwin) from his life after witnessing their romantic kiss. Meanwhile, Molly is one of the judges for the town's talent contest, which includes some juggling by Phil and musical mimicry from Mike & Nancy. Original Air Date: May 15, 2002.
(2.1) 'THE STARS ALIGN' - Ed must deal with both Bonnie & Carol. The new Stuckeyville High School principal (John Slattery) makes quite an impression on Carol. Warren runs afoul of the law and must depend on Ed for assistance. Nancy's start as a full-time homemaker begins with a quick fix. Kenny & Shirley are puzzled when a pony is delivered to Stuckey Bowl during Phil's absence. Original Air Date: October 10, 2001.
(2.4) 'CRAZY TALK' - Local childrens' entertainer 'Dr.Crazy' (Evan Handler), hired by Ed to be the main act at the first Stuckeybowl Halloween Bash, gives bad advice to a child, who attempts to run away from home. The child's parents hire Ed in a lawsuit against the performer. Warren continues to go to extreme lengths to attract the attention of a female student. Molly becomes upset about her budding relationship with bowling supply salesman Jim Frost (Pat Finn). Original Air Date: October 31, 2001.
(2.6) 'REPLACEMENTS' - Ed becomes more than a little upset when another lawyer (Neil Patrick Harris) sets up a law office in a bowling alley with a very similar staff and starts taking away some of Ed's business. Carol is intrigued and obsessed with the 'mysterious' Dennis Martino. Meanwhile Warren is convinced by his 'guide' Diane (Ginnifer Goodwin) to join up with the high school wrestling team in order to attract his dream girl. Original Air Date: November 14, 2001.
(2.10) 'SMALL TOWN GUYS' - Ed decides to defend an old friend who is being sued by a woman for placing her picture on his website, a case which attracts the attention of a celebrity lawyer (Jay Thomas). Meanwhile Mike is completely fed up with a decision made by Dr.Jerome (Martin Chatinover). Warren resorts to becoming the class clown in order to win the affections of Jessica Martel (Robin Paul), against the judgement of his friend Diane (Ginnifer Goodwin). Original Air Date: January 9, 2002.
(2.13) 'YOUTH BANDITS' - After hearing about the untimely death of a fellow high school rock band member, Ed, against Carol's judgement, decides that he, Mike and Barney (Andy Richter) should reunite and perform at the funeral. Warren is ecstatic when his relationship with Jessica (Robin Paul) appears to be moving forward. Meanwhile, Phil enrolls in Molly's adult education science class. Original Air Date: February 6, 2002.
(2.16) 'WHEEL OF JUSTICE' - While in court to settle a minor speeding ticket, Carol is surprised by the unusual antics of the judge (Richard Easton), who once inspired Ed to become a lawyer. Mike finds that having his own medical practice isn't as easy as he had imagined. Meanwhile Ed assigns Phil to hire a clown to entertain children during the weekend. (2.21) 'MEMORY LANE' - Ed's behavior becomes erratic when he attempts to cope with the news that Carol and Dennis are moving on to the next step of their relationship. Dennis decides to run for senior class president against the obnoxious incumbent. Ed represents an elderly woman who wants to sue a local photo developing shop after they lose her prized photos. Meanwhile Warren and Diane find themselves feeling uncomfortable whenever they're together. Original Air Date: May 8, 2002.
