(1.1) 'THE PILOT' - New York city lawyer Ed Stevens (Tom Cavanagh) moves back to his Ohio hometown of Stuckeyville after losing both his job and his wife. Once there he pursues attractive teacher Carol Vessey (Julie Bowen), once the most popular girl in high school years before. Unfortunately she currently has a boyfriend (Gregory Harrison) and Ed is gently rebuffed. Stubborn & undeterred, Ed seeks to win her heart by buying the local bowling alley and setting up a law practice there, while living at the home of his best friend Mike Burton (Josh Randall), Mike's wife Nancy (Jana Marie Hupp) and their infant daughter Sara. (1.2) 'THE WORLD OF POSSIBILITY' - Stuckeyville's famous magician 'Stuckeyville Stan' (Eddie Bracken) hires Ed to uphold his honor against the evil 'Masked Magician' (John Cariani), who is revealing Stan's trade secrets. Ed discovers a key piece of evidence in Carol's childhood diary, along with the subject of a school girl crush. (1.3) 'JUST FRIENDS' - Ed , aided by his 'legal staff', goes to court over a contract written on a bar napkin years ago by 4 high school pals. When one of the men strikes it rich, and denies the contract, he hires a big-city law firm as counsel, the same firm that dismissed Ed. Meanwhile Ed must hire a manager for the alley, but soon realizes that his only choices are Phil , Kenny (Mike Starr) or Shirley (Rachel Cronin). Although Ed and Carol have agreed to be just friends, Ed complicates matters by sending Carol an inspirational video. Original airdate: October 22, 2000. |

(1.4) 'PRETTY GIRLS & WAFFLES' - Carol, realizing that her 7 year relationship with her boyfriend Nick has run its course, decides it's time to break up with him. This of course is great news to Ed. Meanwhile, Ed must counsel an attractive woman (Joanna Going) who is being sued by her fast talking employer (Peter Gerety) who was putting extra money in her paychecks but now wants it all returned. (1.5) 'BETTER DAYS' - Despite advice from his friends, Ed again tries to win over Carol's heart, and ends up commisserating with Nick. Due to low attendance, Ed finally gives in to Phil's idea of putting on a commercial, Phil-style, with Phil acting as director. Meanwhile, in an effort to make better use of their time together, Nancy attempts a few mind-expanding activities with Mike. Original Airdate: November 5, 2000. |
(1.6) 'HOME IS WHERE THE DUCKS ARE' - In attempting to boost an upcoming mayoralty campaign, Ed is approached by the town mayor to accompany a travel & leisure critic and to assure her that Stuckeyville is not your average run-of-the-mill town. Ed's brainstorm is to put on the first 'Festival Of Ducks'. Phil , while coaching a young bowling 'prodigy' , takes it to the extreme. Carol wonders why she remains in Stuckeyville. (1.7) 'SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW' - Ed, now footloose and fancy-free, decides to invite Carol and his friends and their families to Stuckey Bowl for an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner. He soon discovers that starting new traditions is more difficult than ending old ones. In the meantime, Ed must represent a young teen (Max Rosmarin) who is sueing the owner (John Randolph Jones) of a run-down shack after he was injured breaking into it on Halloween, a rite of passage for many of the local youth, including Ed at one time. Meanwhile Mike frets over spending the holidays with his somewhat inexpressive father-in-law( Christopher Murney). Original Airdate: November 19, 2000. |

(1.8) 'THE WHOLE TRUTH' - Molly's grandfather (Edmund Lyndeck) hires Ed to write out his final will & testament, revealing a shocking secret. Mike is uneasy after discovering a new patient-friendly doctor (Mark Deklin) at the clinic. Phil is to host the Stuckeybowl Open-Mike Night. Original Airdate: December 6, 2000. |
(1.9) 'YOUR LIFE IS NOW' - Carol's life is turned upside down when her former high school beau Troy McCallum (Grant Show) decides to look her up while visiting for the holidays. When hearing how 'perfect' his life is, she begins to re-evaluate her life. She turns to Ed for advice but Ed has his own axe to grind with Troy, who tormented him in school. Meanwhile, after spending an entire day waiting for a no-show new fridge, Ed decides to exact revenge on the appliance store, and ends up in court over the matter. Phil decides to get Stuckeybowl into the holiday spirit in his 'own' way. Original Airdate: December 20, 2000. |

(1.10) 'LOSING STREAK' - Ed's parents Alan (Philip Bosco) and Natalie Stevens (Jane Summerhays) make a surprise visit to Stuckeyville. Ed is hurt when they openly show their disapproval about his leaving New York to begin a law practice in their old hometown. Meanwhile Carol takes over as coach of the failing girls JV basketball team, with no prior experience for the game. After some important basketball lessons with the help of Ed, Mike and Nancy, she succeeds in uplifting the team's sagging spirits. Also, Ed must defend 3 men who tricked a co-worker into thinking that he had become a multi-millionaire as a work prank. Original Airdate: January 10, 2001. |

(1.11) 'OPPOSITES DISTRACT' - Sparks fly when Ed goes toe-to-toe with attractive new District Attorney Bonnie Hane (Rena Sofer) over the fate of a good samaritan (Michael Mulheren) who is guilty of putting quarters into just-expired parking meters. Molly chides Carol for taking Ed for granted. Nancy & Mike must cope without a nanny. Nancy also must decide between a promotion or family life. (1.12) 'HOOK, LINE & SINKER' - Ed gears up for an appeal of his parking meter case until his sexy new opponent Bonnie Hane, suddenly drops the case and asks him out, which irritates Carol because she thinks Ed will automatically assume that she's jealous. In the meantime, Ed must represent a downtrodden insurance salesperson (Ernie Sabella) whose new boss (Gregg Edelman) decides to callously fire him based on what a talking catfish novelty toy will say. Also, Mike is convinced that their new nanny has a crush on him, much to the hysterical delight of Nancy. Phil decides to invite the cast of 'Happy Days' to Stuckeybowl to drum up business. (1.13) 'THE MUSIC BOX' - Ed is torn between his yearning for Carol and his new interest in Bonnie but things get awkward when he attempts to help find Carol's stolen music box heirloom by enlisting Bonnie's help in the case, allowing the 2 women to meet. Back at Stuckeybowl, Warren attempts to sign up with a bowling team which includes an attractive classmate, but is instead forced to join a team of 'older' and 'demanding' members. Mike goes from pancake mouse to packrat as the 5 year checkpoint of keeping unnecessary or unused possessions comes up. Original Airdate: February 7, 2001. |

(1.14) 'VALENTINES DAY' - Ed wakes up with Bonnie next to him, but she quickly leaves. Phil decides to help the love-starved residents of Stuckeyville by setting up a Love-atorium. Ed and Nancy attempt to keep their favorite town pastor , Reverend Carver (played by Charles Dutton), from being fired. Ed must decide whether to spend Valentines Day with Carol or Bonnie. (1.15) 'LOYALTIES' - The return of 'Big Rudy' (played by JohnGoodman), the original owner of Stuckeybowl, may mean a gutter ball for Ed. Things get worse when Bonnie tells Ed that she will be taking a promotion in Washington, DC. Meanwhile Carol has a 'date' with a man who has caught Molly's fancy. Warren is so inspired by the writings of Thoreau that he ventures forth to simplify his life. Phil attempts to receive a percentage of Stuckey Bowl's earnings. Meanwhile, Ed goes to court on behalf of an excessively overweight man (played by Del Pentecost) who seeks a restraining order against his well-intentioned brother (played by Shawn Powell) who resorts to bullying to prevent his sibling from eating himself to an early grave. Ed is asked to help out a wronged golfer (played by Tom Bloom) who believes that he would have won the Stuckeyville Open if not for a boisterous fan. Original airdate: May 16, 2001. |

(1.22) 'Prom Night' - Ed gets closer to Carol when he agrees to help her chaperone at the high school prom. Meanwhile Ed's good friend and former colleague, Ron Frankel, (played by David Alan Basche) comes to visit, revealing that positive changes have occurred at their old law firm in NYC. Ed also must help a woman get the power back on in her apartment. Warren, upon hearing that his 2 amigos, Mark and Gavin, will have dates for the prom, must resort to hiring an attractive, older escort (played by Kylie Travis). (1.20) 'MIND OVER MATTER' - After Ed ponders about the long-term future of Stuckeybowl, he decides to seek landmark status for his building. Meanwhile, Ed defends an arthritic friend (played by Ray Aranha), against a doctor (played by Jamie Goodwin), who appears to have prescribed overly expensive sugar pills. Molly's excitement over her first date with Jeff Alexander (played by David Eigenberg) soon diminishes when she learns that he had first asked Carol out.
