                                                                            From NY To SB

Several "Ed" devotees from the NJ/NY Regional Club met, (most for the very first time), for lunch at Hennesey's, to be followed by a visit to Stuckeybowl on the weekend of March 23, 2002.

Ginnie and I met at Rockefeller Plaza in Manhatten. Ginnie wanted to have a new Ed hat and T-shirt for the occasion. Within less than one hour, we found ourselves in Northvale. Getting there much earlier than anticipated, we decided to pass the time by taking an unofficial drive down Paris Avenue. We drove past Krauszer's Market on our right, then past Hennesey's and Stuckeybowl to our left, with the Golf Course directly across the road. Right after Stuckeybowl is the Catering Hall used in several episodes of the show.

Drove back around and took a quick tour of the immediate area to see if Northvale is anything like Stuckeyville. We decided that it's not. We stopped by a bagel shop, which Ginnie said was used in another episode, but I can't remember which. Ginnie was right of course, because there in full display was an autographed picture of TC thanking the crew for their help and support.

As we drove back down Paris Avenue, right behind us was Mary, with 'Next Year' blaring on her car stereo. After parking, we introduced each other and hugged like old friends. Still with time to spare, we decided to walk across to Stuckeybowl and call CJ, to share the experience with us. We stepped foot on 'holy ground'. Thankfully no alarms went off or mad dogs chased us off. A very friendly guard did come by and let us know it was okay to take pictures, as long as we stayed in the parking lot. We wanted to walk up to the front doors, to have a closer look and take some photos of the Historical Society Plaque, but not wanting to annoy the guard, we didn't.

At Hennesey's, we joined Rikki and her boyfriend Dave. Soon after, Phil joined us.(no, not Phil Stubbs, but philg54) This was an unexpected delight. The more the merrier. Rus and his friend Mike joined us a little while after that.

Not knowing whom else to expect, we continued with our lunch, learning more about each other, and of course, discussing "Ed". What we learned is, we are all normal, intelligent, competent people with one big obsession. Mary, Phil and I told the others about the "Ed" seminar we attended (in Spring 2001). Mary also showed us  the photos she took that night and her autograph from TC. Ginnie and Mary chatted with the waitress. Yes, she said, the crew has stopped by a couple of times. And unfortunately, she was off the night 'Two Days of Freedom' was filmed there.

After lunch we walked back to Stuckeybowl. We took many more photos.  The same guard was there, along with another guy. They joined us and chatted for quite some time. Turned out they are part of the crew as well as guards, so of course we bombarded them with questions. They were very nice, and answered our many questions about the cast and set. We asked if there was to be any filming done that day. They replied no, but a couple of guys were buffing the floors. We also asked if the show will be renewed. This they didn't know.

None of us wanted to leave. We all expected (and hoped) something would happen, like seeing the cast suddenly coming out of Stuckeybowl. No such miracle. We chatted some more, made plans to swap pictures, and then went our separate ways.
Thanks to Rose D. for the report and Ginnie P. for the pics.
